Breast Reduction

How long does it take for your milk to dry up?

I was unable to breastfeed bc of complications from a breast reduction, and I gave birth last thursday....my milk started coming in Sunday night, I have been wearing a tightly bound bra and sports bra....And I was wondering when it will start to dry up....?? Also....will my boobs go back down to there regular size?? Or stay larger??

  1. The milk can stay there for quite some time. I formula feed and its been 5 weeks and my milk hasnt dried up. If you did breast feed at all it takes 2-3 days for the pain to go away but the milk wont. Your boobs will go back down.
  2. This may sound crazy but I have 2 children and this remedy worked both times. Go to the market and get some cabbage leaves and put them inside your tight bra around you nipples and it will only be a few days. Make sure you keep the cabbage leaves fresh though. They draw the milk out. My doctor told me of this remedy. It shocked me when it worked. Good Luck!!!
  3. I had a baby back in January. I breastfed for only a week because I became sick and was on meds. As of a week ago (9 weeks post partum) a little milk would occasionally still drip out. but my breast have now calmed down. SO apparently it can take a little time :) I was having some sharp little pains for about 5 weeks or so but it gradually went away. As far as going back to regular size I'm not sure b/c mine were small B's and they are staying pretty close to 36 C still :) I like it!
  4. I was engorged for like a week and a half, then it didn't hurt too badly anymore, but I still had some milk that would leak out occasionally. I think it took like 1 1/2-2 months for my milk to dry up completely. Now my boobs are a little larger than they were pre-pregnancy. Good luck on letting your milk dry up. It was very painful for me and even difficult for me to hold my son because my huge, painful boobs were in the way! I feel your pain =(
  5. Your boobs will go back down and it took me about 3-4 weeks to stop leaking.
  6. It took me about 2 weeks. I was suppose to not allow my breasts to let down, but I couldn't stand it and did a few times in the shower just to relieve the pain. Oh man it was so painful. I got thru it though by tightly binding myself and wearing a sports bra. I lost the boob size in about a month. I wish I could of kept them.
