Breast Reduction

Who can have breast reduction on the NHS?

In what cases can you have a female breast reduction on the NHS? I find mine uncomfotable and annoying and I can't play sports easily or perverts state at me when they bounce around. I feel I can lead a more normal life with smaller breasts.

  1. Because of cutbacks you can only have one done.
  2. Pay for them yourself, parrasite
  3. Speak to your G.P as people whose quality of life is affected or when there are real psychological impacts have an affect on your life can have this done on the NHS. You will be assessed and if it is proven that your breast size is having a psychological affect on your life you will be granted elective surgery to reduce the size of your breasts.
  4. If it is causing you health problems you may qualify, see your doctor and see were to go from there, i would not suggest to get one just because perverts stare at them, u may one day learn to love them, when i was at school i hated mine as they were rather large compared to my friends now they are all jealous and i love them to bits my body just needed to settle down and become in proportion.x x hope this helps x x
  5. If they are causing you back pain, shoulder pain where straps are cutting in, your weight is in proportion for your height and your cup size is H or more - I would think you'd get on the waiting list. If you are planning to get pregnant/have children they would tell you to wait until you have completed your family as your breasts will change shape then anyway, and any "work" would be undone. Once on the waiting list depending on your area it could take 2 years. Privately it will cost around £4000.
  6. You can get one on the NHS if the size of your breasts are going to damage your physical or/and mental health. I've had depression since 2003 and I saw my GP about having a breast reduction. At that time I was a 28F, and I felt like my boobs were just humungus in proportion with the rest of my body. I didn't feel confident enough to run or work out anymore, coz just like you, I felt really uncomfortable and like everyone around me couldn't focus on anything but my breasts. Anyway he referred me, and when the consultant (I'm not 100% sure it was a consultant coz it was a few years back I can't remember who saw me) saw me (which took till 2005 bytheway) but anyway, they looked at my breasts, asked me to describe what I felt the problems were, and where the pain was in my back, and then the measured and weighed my boobs, and then they suggested I wear a sports bra! What the ? As if I hadn't already thought of that! Anyway! Since then I've been thinking that if I feel the same when I'm 21 then I'll get the operation done myself. Well now I'm 21. And I think I've kinda gown into my body. I feel 1000 times more comfortable and more confident than I did 2years ago. I don't know how old you are but don't do something that you think you could regret. xx
  7. Back pain and other health issues. Its a PITA to get them to approve it, but it is very worth it! http://www.breasthealthonline.org 38J to 38C Feb 2006
