Should I have a breast reduction?
I am 15 and I wear a 34 DD bra. My back and shoulders always hurts, I also hunch over all the time because if I stand up straight i feel the pull on my breasts and that hurts too. I talked to my mom about it and she said maybe I could get a reduction. But my 16th birthday is coming up in November and my parents keep asking me if i want a party. THe problem is that I want the party, but I am not comfortable being around my friends and family in clothes I may like on the rack but hate on me. Also I had one of my cousins critzed that with my breasts, I don't look great in photos and I don't want my birthday pictures look bad when they could just look ok if I sat at home with a sweatshirt and jeans. What should I do? Reduction or No? Party or No party?

- party like a rockstar girl!!!!
- Don't EVER get a breast reduction! The surgery is very painful and lays you up for about 2 months. Try different bras and different tops. Eventually you find something that's "you"!
- dont do it ! ! ! ! ! you'll definitley regret it and ur cuzin is jus jealous cuz u got it goin on ! ! ! ! ! yes to party and dont care wat ppl think cuz ur great ! ! ! ! !
- A 34 DD is really not that huge. You shouldn't get a reduction, just go to a place like Dillards or Macys and get fitted for a really good support bra. My sister wears a 36H and she went and got sized at Dillards and the sales lady helped her find a good one. That's why your back is hurting and why you don't think you look nice in pictures, because you're probably not wearing the correct size bra. But you should definitely have your party and make sure you have fun!!!!
- If the size of your breasts is making you that physically and emotionally uncomfortable, perhaps you should consider the reduction. As for the party, you will only turn 16 once. You should have a party and enjoy yourself. There is no sense in feeling embarrassed by the way you look in your clothing or pictures. I bet there are even some girls that are jealous of your voluptuous figure.
- highly doubtful you would find any reputable Dr. that would perform the surgeyon you until you are in your 20's. There is a high likelihood that your could grow more before then. Go to your Dr. and get advice on, excercise to strengthen your back and shoulders, what is the best and most comfortable type/stylr of bra for you to wear, to give best support, and help eleviate some of the pain. you will find that if you get the proper excercise, and bra, you will have far LESS pain, and will make you more comfortable. your cousin is a goof, and probably jealous, totally disregard whatever that person said in the past, and dont listen to them in the future. After you get fitted for excercises, and bra, wear the clothes YOU like, be comfortable within yourself, and make what you have work FOR you. Have the party, have fun, and quit stressing over this matter...it will take care of itself.
- If you really are sure that you want a reduction then have it. Your insurance may even cover it or part of it if it's causing you pain. I'd wait till you are 18 though 'cause you still may be growing. Check with a plastic surgeon. HAVE YOUR PARTY! Just wear something that's cute but comfortable! You don't have to wear sweats! Find an outfit that flatters your figure. Wear a minimizer bra and don't wear a top that's tight or low cut. Wear a pretty sweater. It will be November. You could also wear a cardigan over a pretty blouse or top that doesn't draw attention to your bust. THAT WAS VERY MEAN OF YOUR COUSIN! I think she's jealous! Tell her that she looks bad in her pictures too ( there must be something that isn't perfect about her like maybe she's flat chested or has a big nose or bad skin or ugly hair?). Just kidding. That'd be immature. Just ignore people like that. I'd get your breasts reduced to a 34 C. You'd still have decent sized breasts and you could wear all those cute tops that are low cut or a bit tight that you normally can't wear. MAKE SURE THAT YOU REALLY RESEARCH YOUR DOCTORS! Make sure that they have all the proper credentials and that he/she is a MD with and emphasis on plastic surgery. Get some referrals. Ask the Dr. if you ccan talk to a few of his clients that have had reductions. I know how you are feeling but I had a different feeling. One of my breasts was a small B and the other a normal C. I made them both large C's and couldn't be happier! It was so worth it. Let me know what you decide! You enjoy your 16th birthday! You have PLENTY of time to try on enough sweaters, dresses, etc.. to see what looks great on you. Remember, wear a minimizer! GOOD LUCK!
- Hi Hi... Just think of what some would do to hve what you have...!!! I'm not being sexist on this, because I for one would like to have much more... Of course being a c/d - t/v - we always want more than what we have.. But one should at just about all costs, unless its life or death, try to avoid going in for surgery.. The after pain dealing with is no fun, plus the scaring factor is a real bad scene.. Now I can fully realize that yiou are in pain, but get professional consultation on this, as there are exercises to build up your back muscles, and also a good firm support bra, will also help. I'm sure you've been told all of this before, but try and stay away from surgery.. As for your 16th birthday party - go for it, enjoy it, and be happy... there are far better resorts than breast reduction.. Good Luck, Rachelle In High Heels
- If you have back pain a breast reduction will greatly benefit you. You can get it covered by insurance, and I'm glad to hear your parents are open to the possibility of surgery for you.
