Is breast reduction surgery safer than getting breast implants (to make them bigger)?

I know that women can develop health problems from getting surgery to make their breasts larger...Is it because they're having silicone implanted into their body? How is breast reductions surgery different? Is it safer? Is it possible for a woman to die from breast reduction surgery?

2. The silicone from the breast implants causes the problems. You're introducing a foreign body into your own body and sometimes they leak and cause all kinds of problems. There are saline ones available that are safer. Breast reduction is usually done to relieve shoulder and neck pain from the weight of the breast tissue pulling down on your muscles. My sister-in-law has problems sometimes but so far has not had the surgery. I believe it is safe. The woman would be asleep, and the surgeon would remove some of the fat and tissue from each breast and then stitch the woman back up. However, any surgery carries a risk of complications from anesthesia or infection.
3. as with any surgery there is always risks, even if its a simple procedure, you have to take everything into consideration, health weight fitness age etc, then after all that there is the risk of mrsa and other infections, i have had 2 kids both by c section, and i thought my scars were horrible and i would have liked them corrected with surgery, but i have had mrsa, and to be absolutley honest, now i realise how stupid i was to even consider risking my health for sheer vanity, the world of surgery and hospitals is not a safe one now a days and any vouluntary surgery should not be taken lightly. x
4. there are risks to EVERY type of surgery, from a root canal to breast surgery (bigger or smaller) to an angioplasty. Both reductions and augmentations have risks. There may be different risks but they are still risks.
5. Probably the danger in both is the anesthetic. I had breast reduction surgery, and the only concern on my part and the medical team was my asthma and the anesthetic. It went fine. They observed me to make sure, but all was well. I had no complications from the surgery, and not only did it relieve my chronic back and shoulder pain, but made my breathing easier. I was actually able to exericise aerobically without pain - and without having an asthma attack due to the incredible weight on my chest before the surgery. I don't know why anyone would want implants (unless they are totally flat - it's the implants to become big that I don't understand). I absolutely could not find anything good about having very large heavy breasts. I hated it when I grew them at age 13 and still hated them at age 26 when I had the BR done. I don't miss them in the least now, five years later. I tried to like them, but couldn't find a reason why. I love my breasts now. They are beautifcul.
