insurance help with breast reduction surgery?
I am a 35 year old woman and I have been considering getting a breast reduction surgery. I am pretty sure my insurance will cover it. I am a size 38K... I have been attending the chiropractor for months now because of back pain. My question is.... how do I go about getting the insurance to cover it. Do I need to get my Primary Care Physician to recommend it? Or do I just go to the plastic surgeon and hope that the insurance does not balk at it? I just dont want to end up with a nasty surprise of a bill of several thousand dollars after it is all over. Secondly... what can I expect with this surgery. I understand for such a drastic change ( I want to go to a C cup) that it will involve remoiving the entire nipple and removing the breast portion and then resewing it back on. But what else can I expect ...i.e. recovery time... potential problems.... etc.

- Get a Dr. to agree and put it in writing.
- yes if it is medically nec, to have a breast reduction, go to your dr talk to them about it!
- Cosmetic Surgery is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges cosmetic surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your cosmetic surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.If you still havent got your surgery done, you are better off getting it done in India. http://www.forerunnershealthcare.com
- First-your Primary Care Physician has to determine that reduction necessary for your health-usually causes extreme back pain etc from the weight- then he refers you to a Plastic Surgeon-this referral is vital for your insurance to cover. Your insurance will not cover if you just want it-no cosmetic plastic surgery is covered . Your primary physician needs the chiropractor's rec commendation/records etc for him to make the determination that your size is health problem. If you go to the plastic surgeon on your own without referral from Primary Doctor-can guarantee you'll be stuck with bill-Also the Plastic surgeon's office staff should clear this with your Insurance company before the surgery is done-discuss and be sure-YOU confirm with your insurance company once you get OK from Dr.office =get Nme of Insurance person you talk to and usually you get confirmation no. But you need to get confirmation from insurance yourself.
