Breast Reduction

Is breast reduction surgery safe?

I'm 18 years old. I wear a tripple D bra size, and my breats have been a huge issue for me since age 10 when they first appeared. I've been considering getting a breast reduction for a while now. My mom has just informed me that her insurance would cover it, so money isn't really an issue. I'm more concerned with my safety. What is the process like? How long does it take? What's the aftermath like? Are there any weird side effects? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I need to know if getting the surgery is really worth it.

  2. Breast reduction surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift surgery in India by the company called Forerunners Healthcare .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 30% of the cost she was quoted in America. Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. They arrange cosmetic and plastic surgery for foreigners in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the breast reduction, tummy tuck, facelift and other cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star. http://www.forerunnershealthcare.com Hope this helps.
  3. I got mine done Feb 2006 and I do not regret it one bit! I was in surgery for three hours, immediately felt relief from my back pain in the recovery room. You are off work for two weeks, and you won't be back to normal activities until at least a month, after your incisions fully close. Your final size takes about a year as does regaining nipple sensation (I had mine 3months post op). Scars will take about a year to lighten and turn white (DO NOT expose them to the sun during that time or they turn permanently red!). See at least three PS's covered under your insurance plan. This site helped me out a LOT before and after my surgery. Check out the FAQ's for breast reduction and the main reduction support forum. The picture forum helped me out a LOT as you see how great they look after surgery and some people's complications. Good luck!
  4. Hey Ciarra, Breast Reduction is very safe. The main concern is that of any surgery- anaesthetic and how your body responds. I am only 21 but I actually had a breast reduction last Wednesday, so I am only 9 days post-op and I feel and look fantastic. My surgery took 2 hours and then I was in the recovery ward for only 20 minutes and then straight back into my hospital room where I spent one night. I only had discomfort for a few days but was pretty high on pain medication so I did not really feel any pain. I haven't taken any pain killers for the last 3 days but I am not in much pain at all-- and I have a low pain threshold!!! I think for me the only weird side effect is that my nipples are quite numb and I have no control over them, for example they get erect when I am hot and then when I am cold nothing happens. As the feelings come back into my nipples it hurts a bit but it is just an annoying pain. The other main discomfort for me was caused by the fact that I have to sleep on my back and upright (for about 2 weeks). I had the Le Jour inscision combined with a bit of liposuction around the sides of my breasts- there is a lot less pain and scarring and a better end shape ( nice and round) with this technique. Have a look at this website: www.locateadoc.com There are hundreds of before and after pictures of breast reductions as well as detailed animated slide shows of the procedure (and the different techniques used) and a lot of answers to many questions. All the best :)
  5. hello. im 25 years old..i had a reduction about 18 months ago , i didnt have to pay for mine, it was done for health reasons, sore back etc, i was in hospital for 3 days, after surgery i didnt feel hardly any pain, i dont even think i ask to have any pain killers at all when i was in hospital, but every ones body is different, i did feel sick a bit and they had to give me stuff to stop feeling ill. i felt really good about myself when i was in hospital ,i couldnt wait to get the bandages off , the bandages stay on for a while when you get out of hospital and you do start to feel some pain so its hard to dress your self and shower, when the bandages came off my boobs looked and felt great, you cant do exercise or lift anything heavy for about 3 months. i dont have any regrets but it has been 18 months since it was done and i still have white scaring ,but that also depends on the person ,some people clear up completly. . it comes down to your discisson , so really think about it, if theres any more infomation that you want to know ,write it down and when you go to your doctor ask him. he will tell you and show you what will happen during surgery and the weeks after. all the best with what ever you deside. x x x
